Bee sting is not deadly but they can be quite painful. The venom of the bee is contained above the bulb in a venom jar.The venom sac deposits venom through two valves into the bulb. When the bee stings it pushes the style like a needle into the flesh. When the bee removes the stylus, at various stages the barbs of the two lancets land on the skin. Bee venom is a mixture of acids, histamine and pheromones. They can cause severe swelling and a burning pain that numbs the area with time. Stings on the face can swell up your eyes, lips or cheek. If small kids suffer from bee sting take them to the doctors. Pets can have swellings too from bee sting.

Although a bee sting is unpleasant but otherwise fairly harmless for most people, stings can cause a dangerous anaphylactic reaction which is potentially fatal in people with insect sting allergy. Like many many other naturally occurring proteins like peanut butter, shrimp etc, people can be allergic to insect sting too. Histamines are the major cause of such allergies that are found in bee sting. People who have severe bee allergy go into anaphylactic shock can die if not treated in time. Anaphylactic shock can cause severe allergic reactions such as difficulty in breathing, rashes, vomiting, etc.
